Our Erasmus+ adventure in Jaén has been an incredible journey filled with learning, culture, and unforgettable moments. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by our Spanish hosts, and each day brought new experiences that deepened our understanding of Andalusian culture and strengthened our international friendships.
At school, we took part in engaging workshops and lessons on topics such as well-being, responsible technology use, and World War II history. One of the highlights was an impressive collection of historical exhibits gathered by one of the teachers, which made history come alive for us. The official welcome ceremony at school was a truly special moment, as we listened to the school anthem and learned some flamenco dance moves, immersing ourselves in the rich traditions of Spain.
Beyond the classroom, we had plenty of opportunities to explore and experience Jaén. We visited the breathtaking Santa Catalina Castle, offering panoramic views of the city, and the fascinating Arab Baths, where we learned about Andalusian history. We also had fun tasting traditional churros with chocolate and playing Spanish games, which brought us even closer to our host community.
One of the most exciting activities was the cooking competition, where we prepared and tasted traditional dishes from Spain and our own countries. It was a great way to share culinary traditions and enjoy delicious food together. Another memorable experience was spending time with kindergarten children, playing and learning with them—a heartwarming moment for all of us.
Our host families played a huge role in making this trip so special. We spent quality time with them, whether enjoying traditional Spanish dinners, exploring new places like Granada, or simply relaxing at home, experiencing everyday Spanish life firsthand.
The trip wouldn’t be complete without some fun and entertainment! We had an amazing time at the bowling alley, enjoyed a fantastic karaoke night, and laughed together while playing games and exploring the city. These moments of joy and connection made our Erasmus+ experience truly unforgettable.
Jaén has given us memories that will last a lifetime. We’ve learned, explored, and built friendships that go beyond borders. This exchange was not just about discovering a new culture but also about growing as individuals and appreciating the beauty of diversity. ¡Gracias, Jaén!
