Day 4: Theatre, History, and a Deeper Understanding of Warsaw’s Past

The fourth day of our exchange program was a perfect blend of culture, history, and reflection. We started the day with a visit to Teatr Buffo, where we had the incredible opportunity to watch a performance of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The play was brought to life by a talented troupe of just three actors, who amazed us with their skillful storytelling, expressive acting, and seamless transitions between characters. Their captivating performance kept us on the edge of our seats, making this classic tale of duality and human nature even more engaging.

After the play, we returned to school for lunch at the canteen, where both Polish and Italian students enjoyed a casual meal together, sharing thoughts about the morning’s performance and looking forward to the rest of the day’s activities.

The afternoon was dedicated to learning about one of the most significant events in Warsaw’s history—the Warsaw Uprising. We first attended a fascinating lecture by Mrs. Tylinska, a history teacher at CLV LO, who provided us with an in-depth understanding of the uprising, its causes, and its impact on the city and its people. Her passionate storytelling and wealth of knowledge made history come alive, helping us truly grasp the bravery and sacrifices of those who fought for Poland’s freedom.

To deepen our understanding, we then visited the Museum of the Warsaw Uprising. Walking through the exhibits, we saw powerful photographs, personal letters, and interactive displays that gave us a sense of the struggles and heroism of the people of Warsaw in 1944. The museum’s immersive atmosphere made us feel connected to the past, leaving a lasting impression on all of us.
